P5 Homework – 9th November 2016

P5 HOMEWORK

This week we will have Spelling, Numeracy and Topic homework. Your child should also be bringing home a reading book and they will be directed in school as to how much they should be reading each week.

Spelling

This week our spelling rule is adding er / est to an adjective ending in y to compare 2 things, change y to i and add er / est (windy = windier)

cheekier
sunniest
stormier
sleepiest
luckier
sturdiest
unhappiest
messier
craziest
angrier

At home, to help you learn this week’s rule we ask that you type out your spelling words on a computer/tablet. This will also help with your ICT skills!  Enjoy!

A spelling test will be done throughout the term (not necessarily weekly) to test spelling rules from more than one week. This will be done through dictation where the words will be part of a sentence.

Numeracy

We have been looking at adding two digit numbers. This has really helped our speed and accuracy with mental maths.

I would like you to use the Topmarks website and the game called hit the button. Within the game I would like you to choose number bonds and then ‘up to 100’. This section is quite challenging so good luck. Here is the link.

You can also continue with your multiplication and division.

Multiplication focused games can be found by clicking-here.

Topic

After our fantastic Broomlee assembly we will be starting our new topic which will be about looking after our planet.

For your homework we would like you to write down 5 things you know about being Eco – Friendly and 5 things you would like to know.

Here is a link to a website which will help to get you thinking.
