We all now have a core reading book in our book folders. Please read a little each day at home.
We have been revising the ‘ai’ and ‘ay’ sounds. Here are some examples of the words we have been spelling :
- clay, may, play, stay, (extension adding ‘ed’ and ‘ing’ for challenge where appropriate)
- pain, main, train, waist
We have been working on using a capital letter and full stop in the correct place in a sentence.
We have also been revising the tricky words from block one. Your child will have a copy of these words in their book folder so you can continue to practise at home any which they find difficult.
We have been discussing how many tens and units are in a number. For example 39= 3 sets of 10 and 9 units. We have been using a variety of practical materials and games to help us. Choose 5 numbers at home between 0-100 and tell an adult how many tens and units each number is made from.
We have started a history topic. We are using the context of Castles to investigate the following learning outcome.
SOC 1-04a: I can compare aspects of people’s daily lives in the past with my own by using historical evidence or the experience of recreating an historical setting.
We have created a list of things we would like to find out and have started this week by looking at the names of different pasts of a castle and why castles were often built on hills.
Mr McKeesick read us some Bible stories and we discussed the miracles of Jesus.
