Two things to try this week 🙂
*practise answering multiplication questions quickly
*ask your child some questions about their reading book: BloomsButtons
Numeracy and Maths
This week we have practised answering multiplication questions as quickly as we can. We have gone over the 2, 4, 8, 5 and 10 so far, and will do 3, 6 and 9 next week.
We have also continued reciting the times tables. If you would like to practise at home (and have a giggle) these youtube videos have been good fun: 2 times table
4 times table 8 times table 5 times table 10 times table
We tried answering some word problems today with a partner, and a lot of us found this pretty tricky. We will do more of this over the next few weeks, but if you would like to challenge your child at home, you could change the numbers and scenarios of these: Word Problems
Literacy and Language
This week we have looked at nouns, adjectives and verbs again, and went on a word hunt through our reading book.
In writing, we continued creating instructions and celebrated Sports Relief by making some fitness instructions. We really enjoyed creating a routine for our partner, even after some of us had to do 30 star jumps!
Our spelling words this week have focused on the magic ‘i-e’. We learned that when words have a silent ‘e’ at the end, it changes the sound of the ‘i’ from a short ‘i’ (like in pin) to a long i (like in pine).
Some words you could practise at home include: fine, spine, shine, wife, like, drive, ride, prize and stripe.
Health and Wellbeing
In PE, we have been getting football training from Pam, who used to play for Scotland’s national team. She is now a coach with Hearts and we have loved having her in. She will be with us for the next 4 weeks.
Wearing sporty clothes today, we braved the cold and went outside for some games with the other primary 3s. We have enjoyed doing the daily mile and dancing along to some 5-a-day videos too this week! Thank you so much for your kind donations again!
