P3B Reflective Friday 4.5.18

Our learning this week in P3B:

  • This week in maths we have continued learning about fractions.  We are now able to split numbers and groups into quarters.  We have been counting up in quarters and remembering that 2/4 is the same as a 1/2.

This is a fraction and shows how many of each fraction make a whole. Two 1/2 make a whole and four 1/4 make a whole.

We know that 2/4 make 1/2

1/2 the fish are purple.

1/4 of these fish are orange.

  • We began looking at time this week and we discussed different units of time such as years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds.

We practiced making o’clock times by ourselves.

  • In spelling we have been using syllables to help break up words and make them easier to spell.
  • We have been silent writing with familiar music in the background.  The children were writing stories about waking up in the body of an animal and the adventures they went on that day.

  • In football we stayed inside and practiced all the skills we have learned so far.  We were dribbling, shooting, running and finding space.
  • Swimming was really fun this week! We practiced back crawl like professionals and learned how to push away from the wall.
In our topic we have began looking at food chains and will hopefully have some pictures of what these look like next week! In the meantime you can play this game at home to learn the different food chains of all sorts of animals. Click here to play the game.
