Apologies for my absence last week, and for the delay in posting the blog.
This week we have been assessing spelling of block 1 and 2 tricky words and we will work on revision next week. I will upload a list of these words soon to allow you to revise at home should you wish.
We wrote a story about what we would do with a pet spider if we had one. This piece of writing will be used as our Big Writing moderation piece for this session.
We continue to enjoy “BEAR” time in class ( Be Excited About Reading) when we all choose books to read together and share with our friends.
Cursive writing is tricky but we have now learned the letter d
Everyone has now been given a reading book. Thank you for your support in sending the book to school each day to enable us to engage in follow up work in class.
Numeracy and Maths
Our focus this week has been on partitioning numbers to ten and sequencing 2 digit numbers.
We continued to revise ordering the days of the week, using key vocabulary such as yesterday/ tomorrow/ day before/ day after.
Many of us found it tricky to name the day before, so this is something for extra practise at home please.
Other areas of the curriculum.
In PE we have been using our skills of timing and coordination to throw and catch small pieces of equipment such as small balls, beanbags and quoits.
In French we practised greeting each other using vocabulary such as Bonjour, ça va? and counting to 10.
In assembly we were learning about how to ‘take a moment’ when we feel stressed or angry.
We learned about the 7 continents. We looked at which continents the animals in the Polly Jean book live. We voted that we would like to learn about penguins first.
