P4B Reflective Friday 25.1.19

Here is what we have learned this week

Maths

This week we have focused on our addition skills, we have done a lot of work on the strategies we can use to make adding in our head easier. We had fun playing a game called addition bingo on the topmarks website. The children have worked so hard on using the algorithm sum for column addition, this was a brand new concept for them and we have already moved on to bridging 10 and carrying. Well done P4! We are in the process of creating ‘How to’ videos on the IPADS to show our understanding.

I have also attached a copy of our levels  on beat thats for you to practice at home.

Literacy

In reading we are focusing on comprehension and understanding. The class used their reading books to complete a brand new task called the visualiser. We thought of an important event in the story and illustrated what we thought it looked like and then wrote a paragraph describing it.

In spelling this week we had fun creating our own wordsearches with our words.  We learned all about the rule for adding a tch to the end of words.

fetch                      ditch

patch                    witch

Other areas

We have started to learn the skills of gymnastics in PE, we had fun on Monday creating a 4 step gymnastic sequence which took in elements of balance, strength and creativity.

We researched about viking gods and goddesses and with a partner created an information sheet about ones of our choice. This helped us to improve our note taking skills as part of the learning came from a powerpoint.

Have a great weekend
