Maths and Numeracy

We have been practising our skills for rounding whole numbers this week. We have been rounding whole numbers to 10 and to 100. Some of us have found rounding to 100 quite tricky!

Next week, we will be using these skills to estimate a number.

We have been practising and applying our skills for chance and probability with Miss Houliston. We can use these skills to say how likely an event is to happen.

We have been learning quick and accurate recall of addition facts and 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Literacy

We have been learning about Modal Verbs with Miss Houliston such as will, would, could and should.

We have been developing our skills to write about characters’ thoughts and feelings, through our class novel ‘Storm’. We have also been identifying powerful words from ‘Storm’ which we could use in our own writing.

This week we tried ‘Slow Writing’ to encourage us to add VCOP into each of our sentences. We re-wrote the last chapter of ‘Storm’ to give the novel a different ending.

Spelling Words

We have been learning to drop the ‘e’ from our root word, before adding the suffix ‘ing’. e.g. share become sharing.

Health and Wellbeing

In P.E, we have been developing our throwing and catching skills with a rugby ball. We have continued to develop our ‘movers and thinkers’ skills. We have been working with a partner to mirror each others movements. We are developing our coordination and thinking skills.

This week we have been finishing our learning about SHANARRI. We are been creating a tree for our class wall that shows all of the elements of SHANARRI (Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included).

IDL

This week, we went out into our playground and carried out a scavenger hunt about Scotland. We worked in partners to find all of the answers hidden in the playground and matched the answers to the questions. We worked really well together, showing fantastic teamwork skills, and we had lots of fun!
