This week in Maths, we have been revisiting measure, where we have carried out a pre-assessment. This tested our skills of measuring a line as well as using different types of measurements, for example millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm) and metres (m).
We have also had a visit from Mrs Walker from Boroughmuir High School, who has been teaching us algebra. We have been solving equations where X is a unknown value. This has tested our knowledge of our 4 operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
This week in literacy we have been working on a video comparison, where we have watched Baboon on the Moon and The Man on The Moon (John Lewis advert). We were spotting on the differences of the two videos and their similarities, where we have filled in our own Venn diagrams.
We have also continued working on our spelling, by using Fry’s common words. To practice our words we have been using our active spelling cards. For example, bubble letters, backwards words and blue vowels, these help us to continue practicing our spelling which will help to improve our writing.
Other Curriculum Areas-
In German we have been working with Sabrina to find out about Christmas in Germany, we have been learning about the traditions they have as well as how we say Merry Christmas in German: Frohe Weinachten and Happy New Year: Frohes Neus Jahr.
In the latter part of the week, we have been working in our community teams where we have been working with our peers from P1-P7 on different issues we are trying to change within the school. For example Community Links Team, Communication, Pupil Parliament, Eco committee, etc.
