Tuesday 21st April 2020 – Learning at Home Together

Good Morning P4J and welcome back! 🙂 

I hope that you all had a good Spring break and that you enjoyed some of the lovely sunshine! During my holidays I learnt a new skill – crocheting – and I made an Octopus (I’ve added a photo below 🙂 ) Did you learn a new skill over the holidays or did you practice a skill that you already have?

Below are the tasks for Tuesday.

L.I We are learning to recall subtraction facts quickly and accurately.

Daily Morning Challenge: Tuesday 10

Choose subtraction on Daily 10. Start at 20 seconds and then try to increase the level or decrease the speed to challenge yourself.

Spicy –  Start at Level 2

Hot –  Start at Level 3

 

L.I We are learning to spell unfamiliar words using our spelling rule.

Spelling rule for the week: to make a plural form by adding ‘es’.

Words ending in s  x  z  sh  ch form their plurals by adding ‘es’

Daily Spelling Activity Task: choose a different spelling activity from the pack that you have at home and remember to Look, Cover, Write, Check.

Spicy – splashes kisses glasses dresses foxes buses crosses wishes dishes classes

Hot – paintbrushes coaches churches peaches witches beaches addresses watches waltzes lunchboxes

Tricky words – even / different

 

L.I – We are learning to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers.

Daily Maths Task: We are revising our multiplication skills from last term. Remember to use either the grid method or traditional column method.

Complete the following task:

Mild: Complete question 1 and 2

Spicy: Complete question 1 to 4

Hot: Complete all questions

Extra Challenge: Can you create your own word problems using the times tables that you know?

 

L.I: We are learning to visualise the text through showing our understanding of the main ideas in a text.

Weekly Reading Task: Read 20-30 pages of your reading book.

Question Master Task: Can you create Blooms questions based on your current reading book?

Create the following:

  • Two questions demonstrating the ‘remembering’ skill.
  • Two questions demonstrating the ‘understanding’ skill.
  • Two questions demonstrating the ‘applying’ skill.

Remember, you can use the Blooms Taxonomy sheet in our home learning pack to help you.

Remember to read a book of your choice for pleasure every day for 30 minutes.

Weekly Topic Task: This week, research Second Class and Third Class on the Titanic. What can you find out? What were their facilities like? Where were they on the ship?

You have been tasked with designing passenger tickets for the Titanic. You must design tickets for First Class, Second Class and Third Class. Your tickets much include an illustration and the price on each.

 

Weekly French Task:

L.I: We are learning to introduce ourselves and ask ‘what is your name?’

My name is – je m’appelle …
I’m … – moi, c’est …
What is your name? – Comment t’appelles-tu?
Please – s’il te plaît
Thank you – merci
