Friday 24th April 2020 – Learning at Home Together

Good Morning P4J and Happy Friday!

Another week of Jumping Jigglypuffs showing fantastic resilience, learning new skills and looking on the bright side! I have really enjoyed seeing rainbows in lots of windows when I go out for my daily run or walk. Here is a selection of your photos and a super rainbow to brighten your day:

Friday Fun: Can you guess which book the lego scene below is from?

Below are the tasks for Friday

L.I We are learning to write numbers in words.

L.I – We are learning to describe a journey using directional language.

Daily Maths Task: Have a look at the map below of Creely Island. The red lines show the roads which connect all of the places on the island, and the main roads have been given names (for example: Figgs Road)

An example is shown of directions to get from Barns to Windmill. Read the directions and follow the roads with your finger to check if the directions are correct.

Now its your turn to write directions. Look at the language used in the example (‘drive along…’, ‘take the 2nd on the right’, ‘at the end of the road’). Make sure that you use similar language in your own directions.

Complete the following task:

Mild: Complete question 5 and 6.

Spicy: Complete question 5 to 8.

Hot: Complete questions 5 to 10.

Extra Task: on your next walk, discuss the route you are taking. You might write your directions down, when you get home.

L.I: We are learning to offer our own ideas and opinions about a text.

Daily Literacy Task: The Friday Text!

Read the extract ‘How do seeds grow?’ below.

Write down:

  • What you liked about the text.
  • What you disliked about the text.
  • What puzzled you.
  • Were there any connections or patterns you noticed?

Try to find evidence from the text to support your ideas and opinions.
