Literacy

Writing

Today we are going to focus once again on the skills required to write persuasive letters.

Read through the Powerpoint I have uploaded to our teams page, it is in resources literacy folder and is called Persuasive Writing new invention. It has all the information you need to begin this task. Make sure you read through it in detail and understand how to best use the skills you have developed. We have already practised advertising a new invention, the hoverbike. For our persuasive letter I would like you to create a new invention which solves a problem. Your job is then to persuade a company Edinburgh Engineers to build it for you for a reduced rate.

Then use the planning sheet below, this will help you step by step to create the letter.

I have attached an example of a good persuasive letter which meets the success criteria. It is below.

ERIC Reading

I have included the website for the Ickabog below, this is JK Rowling’s new fairytale where she is uploading chapters for free. I would really recommend it.

Please try to spend time each day completing silent reading with a book of your choice.

I will be introducing a word of the day, every day. Copy each word into the back page of your jotter, which will become a word bank.  Find the definition and record this too.

Hope you have a good day and remember to check back tomorrow
