SpellingTeam Jewel: single sounds r, e and h; Team Gold: using magic e in a words for example cake, rake, tame, mate, game to make the ai sound. Revise all tricky words; Team Treasure: oa/ow revision: Core list: oats, toast, coat, throat, show, blow, snow, row, bow; Challenge list: oatmeal, toasting, raincoat, bungalow, shallow, shadow, tomorrow, following, snowman; Tricky words: who, where, which

Handwriting- continuing to work on correct formation of the letters of the alphabet – both upper and lower case. Working in cursive formation for those who can.

Writing super sentences including a connective word.


Reading– enjoying books of our own choice during BEAR time; working on fluency and expression when reading aloud; enjoying the story of James and the Giant Peach; finding naming words (nouns) in our reading books.

Home learning ideas:

Look back on our recent blog posts and practise all of your spelling sounds so far. You could write them down in fancy letters or make them into a word pyramid.

Write a super sentence using one of these connectives: and, but, because or so.

Numeracy and Maths

Time- beginning (and revising for our P3s) telling time in o’clock and half past.

Addition– finishing our learning on addition and identifying the missing number in addition sums.

Counting- in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Home learning ideas:

Practise telling the time at home; look for all the different things in your home that tell the time (example: the oven)

Keep counting backwards and forwards in 2s, 5s and 10s. How far can you count up?

Other Areas

Learning about materials in Science. We thought about the materials we already know, what a property is and then made homes for the mini beasts from James and the Giant Peach, during our outdoor learning time.

Art- making natural pictures from outdoor materials.

PE- outdoor fitness and Cosmic Yoga.

Christmas cards- making our designs.

Painting stones for the Remembrance Day and learning a little about the Poppy Appeal.
