# P3MB Friday 13 November

Hello everyone

This is what we have been learning this week:

Maths and Numeracy

We continued to practise different subtraction strategies in mental maths activities.

We started to tell the time on analogue clocks. We talked about 60 minutes being in one hour and 60 seconds in one minute. We played games to help us think about how long one minute is. We linked times to real life and spoke about what we would be doing at specific times in the day. We revised half past and 0′ clock and drew these times on blank clock faces. Some of us challenged ourselves by working out word problems using time.

We introduced quarter to and quarter past and tried to show these times on our individual clocks.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME

Talk to your child about time and link times to specific events in the day. For example “What time do I get up/ go to school/ have dinner”. Look at analogue clock faces in your home and talk about quarter to and quarter past ,noticing where the clock hands are.

Literacy

In reading this week we were developing our reading comprehension skills using the Blooms ‘remembering’ questions.

In writing we created a mynah bird character and profile to use in a story next week.

We listened to the final book talks.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME

The story is set in ………………………………………………

The main characters in the story are…………………………………

At the beginning of the story………………………………………

They could write their answers down if they wish, making sure they are writing in full sentences.

PE

We did a variety of games to improve our fitness levels and have fun.

RME

We watched the story of Rama and Sita and spoke about Diwali. We drew Rangoli patterns outside using coloured chalks.

HWB

We watched an online assembly from NSPCC about children speaking out and staying safe. We discussed who the children could speak to inside and outside school if something is worrying or upsetting them. We looked at the Childline website and played some of the games there.

CHILDREN IN NEED

We had lots of fun this morning. Many of us dressed in yellow or spots and we followed a kindness trail in the playground. We watched a special assembly about Children in Need and wore our Pudsey masks. We wrote something kind about each person in our class and guessed how many sweets were in the jar.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
