P5M – What we have been learning this week 27/11/20

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have all had a lovely week. We have been busy in P5M this week:

In reading this week P5M have been focusing on our comprehension skills. We have been picking out information from the text to answer questions as well as understanding questions. We will continue to develop our understanding and analysing skills.

We have spent time this week practising out cursive handwriting, reminding ourselves how each letter of the alphabet should be written.

Things to do at home –

See the progress record for this week’s reading pages.

Try to pick out the main events from a book you are reading and practise drawing a picture of them

Try reading forward and reading back to uncover the meaning of any unknown words in your book

Please see spelling document posted on Monday

Maths and Numeracy

Our numeracy focus this week has been multiplication and using a chimney sum to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit. We also revisited written addition and subtraction this week to test ourselves on how well we remember our previous learning.

Things to do at home –

Practise your times tables throughout the week to improve your mental multiplication. Focus on times tables you find tricky

Other curricular areas

  • We have continued to spend time this week discussing what bullying is, how it can make people feel and the importance of being kind to each other. With this in mind, for P.E this week we have had a team building focus.
  • For our Free the Forest topic we have been discussing what bio-diversity is and the importance of it in the world
  • We learned about the story of Christmas this week

Have a great weekend!
