P5M – What we have been learning this week – 22.1.21

Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a great week and have been out enjoying the snow. First of all, I would like to say how proud I am of P5M. Learning from home can be challenging but I am seeing some excellent work being uploaded onto Teams and I am pleased with how many of us are engaging in our class meetings. Well done, you are all doing great.

In reading this week we have been focusing on our comprehension skills. We have been practising taking notes in our own words from both text and videos. We then challenged ourselves to create a fact file using our notes and not looking at the text. I have also assigned reading pages this week to be read for next Wednesday along side a visualiser task.

For writing we have been using our descriptive writing skills to start an imaginative story. We focused on including a colon in our writing this week. We will continue to develop our imaginative writing next week.

Maths and Numeracy

We have been focusing on multiplying by 9 this week. We have had various creative and written tasks to help us become more confident with our 9 times table and multiplying up to 4-digit number by 9. All of the prove it posters that I have seen have been fantastic.

We also reminded ourselves of how to calculate the area and perimeter of rectangles this week.

Other Curricular Areas

I have seen lots of great work uploaded onto Teams of work taken from the P5 grid. Well done.

Have a great weekend P5, I will ‘see’ you all on Monday.
