Happy Friday P2L and P2M Children and Grown – ups!￼

Apologies for the technical issues with last week’s blog! It has been a great week in P2 and we enjoyed the sunshine at the start of the week!

Literacy

• Sound of the week: Revision of last 13 digraph sounds
• Dictation: sea, light, shy, boat, show, food, new, soil, boy, loud, cow, Paul, jaw
• Tricky Words: review of current block (reading)
• Tricky Words: spelling
• Writing “Favourite Fruit”
• Writing: The children chose either commas or bullet points to write a list of their favourite fruits
• Our writing ‘Star Steps’ for Term 2 are:
• Capital letters, finger spaces, full stops (non-negotiables)
• Using different types of punctuation
• Using commas/bullet points
• Sometimes learners will also receive an individual Star Step to support their learning
• Handwriting – cursive and pre-cursive writing practice. This includes drawing, colouring in and cutting to promote hand strength and pencil control.

• ORT books
• Reading/Literacy activities in class
• Character Description- Describing a character from our reading book
• Completing a book review – this helps us to develop critical thinking skills (linked to World Book Day)
• Reading our writing to the whole class (choice activity)

Maths/Numeracy

• PACE multiplication challenge
• Counting in 2s
• Multiplication (5 Times Table)
• Information Handling- Block Graph
• SEAL – sharing equal amounts

Other Curricular Areas

• PE: Yoga and ball skills- we now have access to the hall for PE once per week
• Health and Well-being: P2 are now doing the ‘Daily Mile’.  Daily Mile does not make up part of our PE time.
• Health and Well-being – Friendships and Acts of Kindness
• Science – this week we have explored animals and habitats
• This week we have started work on our P2 show!

P2 Mogs

• This week we have started work on the P2 show, we will be building this up over the next few weeks.
• On Thursday afternoon we had fun outside at Loose Parts.

• This week we have enjoyed starting work on our P2 show. Ladybirds are so enthusiastic and are doing really well already, we can’t wait to share it with you!
• We enjoyed some time outdoors on Wednesday afternoon.
• The children worked really hard on writing independently this week about their favourite fruits. They chose either commas or bullet points to list their fruits.
