P2M and P2L Class Blog 29.04.2022

Hello and Happy Friday! 

Welcome back to Term 3 of primary 2! We hope you all had a lovely, restful Easter Break.  It has been lovely to see the children and hear all about the fun things they did in the break – thank you for sharing with us!  


  • Sounds revision week: sc, sk, sm, sn 
  • Dictation: scar, scan, skip, skin, smell, smash, snap, snug 
  • Hold the sentence 
  • Dictation/Hold the Sentence: this week we have started marking our own learning using ‘Pink of Think and Green for Great’. This is a fantastic way for learners to reflect on their progress and receive immediate feedback 
  • Tricky Words – reading assessment 
  • Writing: Easter Break – this was an independent piece of writing  
  • Our writing ‘Star Steps’ for Term 3 are: 
  • Capital letters, finger spaces, full stops (non-negotiables)  
  • Using different types of punctuation 
  • Using exclamation marks/question marks  
  • Sometimes learners will also receive an individual Star Step to support their learning 
  • Handwriting – ascenders and descenders  


  • Reading assessment week – new books will come home on Monday 9th May  


  • Revision of addition and subtraction strategies  
  • ‘Traffic Light’ challenge  
  • Marking our own learning as a class

Word(le) of the Week! 

P2 Mogs 

  • Drama: Ready, Respectful, Safe – this week we acted out one of our school rules in groups of 3 
  • RME: We enjoyed the story ‘Lailah’s Lunchbox: A Ramadan Story’ and learned about fasting  
  • Assessments: ORT reading and ‘Tricky Words’ 
  • We enjoyed ‘Loose Parts’ play in the sunshine with P2L 

P2 Ladybirds 

  • We have enjoyed being back together and sharing what we did in the Easter break. It sounds like everyone had a lovely time! 
  • RME – We enjoyed learning about Ramadan and the festival of Eid. It was lovely to hear what some of the children in our class do to celebrate!  
  • Assessments: ‘Tricky words’ and Reading stages 
  • It has been so lovely going out for ‘Loose Parts’ play in the sun with P2M. It was great to see the whole of P2  socialising with each other.

Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd are Holidays  

Please can we ask all learners to have a pair of indoor shoes and a spare set of clothes to keep at school – thank you
