My highlight this week has been seeing the class’s communication skills projects. They all did an absolutely brilliant job and I really enjoyed learning more about some of their hobbies and interests. I was very impressed by those who chose to teach the class a new skill. Here are some photos of some of the things we were learning:
In maths we were focussing on division. We played sumdog challenges, made our own board games to practice our division facts and solved division word problems.

I have asked the class to prepare either a presentation or a short lesson by themselves or with a partner for next week. They can present/teach anything they like but the focus is on developing their communication and presenting skills.
I know that speaking in front of an audience can be worrying so I have said that if they would prefer the children can record a video/PowerPoint at home that we then watch in school. The instructions are here:

For loose parts this week we had a whole class challenge to create a shelter that everyone could fit under. We had to use resilience, communication skills, creative problem solving and teamwork skills.

PE days are changing from next week. PE days will now be on Monday and Thursday.
Our highlight this week was definitely the pumpkin trail – they were all so creative and brilliant!

This week in PE we learnt a new game to help us practise our hand-eye co-ordination. It is called Elephant Football

Our spelling rule this week looks at words that end in al. The children will complete an assessment in class and from that assessment choose 10 words to learn this week. If they get all of the assessment words correct they will need to choose 10 words from the dictionary that follow the same rule.
Every child has been issued with a spelling/homework jotter they will be writing their words in so they can practice them at home.

P7C showed great resilience this week as they had to cope with having lots of different teachers. It was lovely to hear from other teacher’s that they are a delightful class (which of course I knew already!)
I enjoyed meeting everyone at Parents evening and apologies to the few meetings I missed while off sick, I have sent emails to re-arrange times for next week.

Next Friday is ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ day and the children can wear red if they wish too.
