P1 Everywhere Bear

Good afternoon everyone!

We have started a ‘bear’ topic this term and have been reading the story ‘The Everywhere Bear’. The Bear goes on lots of adventures.

We are planning to start sending home our ‘Everywhere Bear’ next week. The bear will visit each child’s home for one night and it would be fantastic if you could fill in the diary provided to share what the bear did while at home with your child.

You can attach pictures, drawings or even just a sentence to say “The Bear went to gymnastics with me.” We will share the experiences each day in class.

Important: If the bear comes home with you on Tuesday for example then please make sure that you return the bear on the Wednesday. This is to allow every child to have a turn.

Link

Here is a link to the story being read aloud. (not the best quality but will help you if you are unsure of the story)

We can’t wait to hear all about the adventures!

Thank you for your support,

The P1 Team 🙂

Happy Monday everyone!

Here is some information below:

  • Your child will bring home their purple bag this Thursday.

  • Inside there will be a copy of a ‘Maths Home Learning wall’ and a copy of this week’s sounds. Please can you work on these sounds with your child at home. A top tip: cut out the sounds for the week, work on these and keep these safe in a little plastic bag or envelope at home. Use these as flashcards daily.

  • We are learning a new handwriting style across the school- ‘Cursive Writing’ so we will share more information about that at our ‘P1 Parent Information Session’ next month.

  • We will pop any letters from the office into the purple bag daily so please make sure the bag comes to school each day.

  • Every Thursday there will be a new blog post detailing home learning for the next week (Thursday to Thursday). There will usually be a ‘sound sheet’ each week to work on.

  • Please check the class blog every Thursday for new information.

  • Your child is responsible for handing in any letters to Miss Davidson, Miss McGhee, Miss Levey or Mrs Conlin. The purple bags will not be checked daily by an adult.

Many thanks for all of your support,

The P1 Team 🙂

P1 Reflective Friday 24th August 2018

P1 have had a very busy week.

  • We have been sharing our ‘Memory boxes’ from home. There were lots of interesting things to share. We spoke confidently to a small group.

  • We have been focusing on the words ‘READY’, ‘RESPECTFUL’ and ‘SAFE’ and talking about how we should be ready to learn, respectful of others and objects and safe at school. You will see our class agreement when you visit on Thursday at the ‘Meet the Teacher’ event.

  • We have been using simple French greetings ‘Bonjour’ and ‘Au revior’ each day and learning the days of the week in French.

  • We have also been focusing on spelling our name. If you can confidently spell your name then you can work on spelling your surname at home.

  • We visited the school hall for gym. We blew up our space bubbles and followed simple instructions. Next week we will change into our gym clothes.

Looking into next week:

  • ‘Meet the Teacher’ is on Thursday. We welcome everyone to come into the classroom to say hello!

  • We will begin our literacy and numeracy learning for the term. We will keep you posted on how you can help at home.

  • Our purple home learning bags will be given out next Wednesday. Please make sure that the bag comes to school each day. If your child has a letter or something to hand to Miss McGhee, Miss Davidson or Miss Levey, please make sure your child knows about it. The purple bags won’t be checked daily.

  • We will be focusing on our transition story ‘Tiddler’ in class. Perhaps you could read it at home?

A reminder:

When the children leave the classroom at the end of the day, the door is closed. If your child needs the toilet or forgets something then please re-enter the school via the school office. We often leave the classroom after the door is closed. Thank you for understanding.

Thank you for your continued support,

The P1 team 🙂

Memory Boxes

Just a little post to thank all of our parents/carers for your support with your child’s memory box. We have started to share these in class this week. Lots of effort has been put in and the children are enjoying sharing these with their peers.

We will send the boxes home once your child has had the opportunity to share their box with the group.

What a great start to Primary One,

Miss Davidson, Miss McGhee and Miss Levey 🙂
