P2 Script

Hi everyone,

Your child will come home with lines to learn today or tomorrow. We won’t send home the whole script, only the lines your child should learn.

If your child has no lines in their purple bag then that is because these will be easily worked on in class.

Please check your child’s purple folder.

We will also send home a costume letter this week.

Can the lines be brought back to school each day?

Many thanks for all of your support,

The P2 Team 🙂

P2 Easter Show

Just a little blog post to let all parents/carers know that we have started to prepare for our Easter show. Once all parts have been given out then we will then send a script home for you to work on with your child. We would very much appreciate your support with this at home. We will also be asking you all for a costume for your child but more information will follow after the February break.

We have started to learn a song this week. We will keep you updated on the blog with more information!

Many thanks for your support with this,

The P2 Team 🙂

Literacy

  • We have been learning about the ‘soft c’ spelling pattern in words such as glance, rice, fence
  • We learned to spell the words other, mother , another
  • We wrote stories about a Windy day and made a list of exciting descriptive words to help us.

Thank you for your continued support  with practising key vocabulary and signing the reading record. Please note that ‘new book day’ may change for some pupils soon.

  • We are continuing to work in class on predicting, analysing and discussing the wide range of texts we read – including, but not limited to, our home reading books. We would encourage the children to make personal choices of reading material from home and library – school reading books are only a small part of becoming an avid reader.

  • We had a long chat about ‘0’ and whether it is an odd or even number.
  • We continued to practise and use our subtraction skills

  • We have been consolidating our knowledge of the order of the months of the year and learning to say which month comes before/after/between etc.
  • Someone commented that their birthday was not on the same day of the week this year as it was last year and this prompted a discussion about the number of days in each month.
  • We discussed the rhyme ” 30 days has September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31 except February, which has 28 days clear and 29 in each leap year”
  • We continued to practise and use our subtraction skills.
  • We used our knowledge of bar graphs to gather and display information about our peg pattern boards.

Other areas of the curriculum

  • We investigated what happened to the snow as it melts. We filled tubs with snow, brought them into the class and observed how it melted through the day. This led on to a discussion about Global warming.
  • We discussed wearing bright or reflective clothing when outside in the darker evenings and how this might help to keep ourselves safe.

12.1.18 P2cheetahs. What we have been learning this week.

Happy New Year!

Literacy

We have been revising magic e words and tricky words.

We continued exploring rhythm and rhyme and designed our own strange machines based on the poem Mrs Sprokett’s Strange Machine.

We discussed new year resolutions and our hopes and wishes for the World.

READING

We spent some time every day selecting a book to read from our class library.

Reading will begin again next week.

On our Spelling City page, you can access the tricky word lists and some fun games to play for extra practice.

Numeracy & Mathematics

We continued to look at directions and how to follow and give them.

We did a survey and compiled a graph showing  how we came to school.

Other areas of the curriculum

In PE we practised how to throw and catch safely and looked at the ways we could use the skill in other games.

We reminded ourselves of the Class Charter and discussed respect and resilience.

We learned about the sun as a source of energy. We looked at other forms of energy around us like electricity and battery power.

Try to look for things in your home powered by battery or electricity.
