P1/2D Assembly- URGENT!

Hi everyone,

I know that I said no costumes would be required, but the children would like to dress as farmers. Please could you send a checked/tartan shirt or dark top, jeans/shorts and wellies to school next week. Bring these items in a bag with your name on it.

Thank you so much!!!

Miss Davidson

P5 Homework – 31st May 2017

P5 HOMEWORK

This week we will have Spelling, Topic and Numeracy homework. Your child should also be bringing home a reading book and they will be directed in school as to how much they should be reading each week.

Spelling

  • Silent t following s
  • Short vowel sound requires 2 consonants before adding le

e.g.         whistle  NOT  whissle

              purple,        puzzle

castle

whistle

bristle

thistle

nestle

wrestle

rustle

hustle

jostle

mistletoe

To practice your spelling this week I would like you to create a word search containing all your spelling words.

A spelling test will be done throughout the term (not necessarily weekly) to test spelling rules from more than one week. This will be done through dictation where the words will be part of a sentence.

School Vision

Each child has been given home a talking and listening task. In order to create a school vision we would love to gather ideas from yourself as well as your child. All P5 children know what to do, they can explain the task. Your input is appreciated!

Topic – Mary Queen of Scots

Prior to our trip, could you please do some research about the history of the Palace of Holyrood house. Your main focus should be the time around when Mary Queen of Scots lived there. Note down any information you find out. You can present it any way you wish, for example a poster or a power point on 365.

Have a lovely week!

Creating Our Shared Vision For Buckstone Primary

This week, you will be given a sheet to complete with someone at home that will help us to create a shared vision for our school.  You will recognise the words on the sheet from our classroom discussion.  Please return your sheet by Monday 5 June.

Topic

We are continuing with our focus on food produced in Scotland next week and would like, if possible, every pupil to bring a small vegetable (that can be grown in Scotland) to school on Tuesday 6 June.  We will be making soup using the vegetables and plan to let everyone taste the finished product.  We will assume that it is OK for everyone to taste the soup unless we hear otherwise (or, of course, if anyone has allergies that are known to us).  We plan to use oil to soften the onions and will only be adding the vegetables, water and some seasoning (we will not be using a stock cube or adding any lentils or milk).

P1/2D Assembly

Your child has a little script home so they can each learn their line(s). We invite you all at 9am on Friday 9th to see our class assembly. We will be sharing our learning on our topic ‘On the Farm’. Be prepared to learn the names of farm animals in French!!!
