P2/3 Golden Treasures Reflective Friday week beginning 26th October

We hope you all had a great October break and we enjoyed welcoming you all back to class this week. Another busy week of learning.

Literacy

  • Reading in our reading groups and in BEAR time
  • Continuing to enjoy the story of James and the Giant Peach as a class
  • Listening to and then sequencing a funny Halloween themed story: A Magical Muddle
  • Spelling sounds:
  • Team Jewel- single sounds i, s and m
  • Team Gold: the aw/au sound for example paw, jaw, yawn, haul, haunt, Paul; Tricky words: do, as
  • Team Treasure: igh/-y revision; Core list: right, sight, flight, sunlight, goodnight, spy, trying, why, frying, sty; Challenge list: bright, slightly, frighten, sunlight, goodnight, spying, trying, why, frying, shyly; Tricky words: what, when
  • Writing about a favourite holiday activity using super sentences
  • Continuing to work on handwriting, focussing on correct formation
  • Practising alphabetical order

Ideas for home learning

  • Help your child to learn the alphabet…lots of us know the first part but get in a muddle after L!

Numeracy

  • Ordering numbers from smallest to largest
  • Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s forwards (and backwards for a challenge) from different starting numbers
  • Finishing our learning about information handling
  • Practising our addition skills by solving some Halloween themed puzzles

  • Cosmic Yoga- we enjoyed the Ruby Broom adventure
