P1M Reflective Friday 19.5.23

Hello everyone,

MATHS AND NUMERACY

This week we have been assessing what we know about time.

In numeracy we have been counting backwards from 30 starting at different numbers, recognising numbers to 50, describing equal shares, ordering numbers, and adding together two collections of objects.

We played a game on the iPad to help us practise our number bonds to 10.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME

Practise number bonds to 10:

0+10=10

1+9=10

2+8=10 etc.

Use the game above to help.

If your child is confident with the number bonds to 10, try number bonds to 20.

LITERACY

This week we have been learning to blend an initial consonant with the letter l :cl bl fl sl gl and the tricky words here and of.

This week’s dictation practised the blend we have been revising this week.

We use Pink for Think and Green for Great to reflect on our learning.

This week we were writing about black animals to practise our blend.

THINGS TO DO AT HOME

Please see the sheet your child has brought home today and complete the suggested activities.

Listening and Talking Presentation – My Favourite Place
As part of our literacy learning, we would like each learner to deliver a talk about their favourite place. This could be anywhere – perhaps the park, a holiday destination or even your bedroom! Talks should last no more than two minutes, and learners can bring in up to 3 things to show during the presentation if they wish to do so. We won’t be using powerpoints/technology to deliver our talks. Please don’t bring a script to read out, you may have some bullet points on a piece of paper to help you remember if you would find that helpful.  We will begin to hear the Masterminds’ talks on Monday 29th May, so please have them ready for then. Thank you and we look forward to hearing all about your favourite places!

RSHP

We started thinking about looking after animals and discussed pets and the need for shelter. We created birds nests in groups.

PE

We have been practising ball skills by kicking and dribbling the ball.

LOOSE PARTS

We had a lovely sunny afternoon for our Loose Parts learning.

The next day for Loose Parts is  Friday 26 May.

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

(Thanks so much to everyone who has sent in boxes of tissues, it is much appreciated).
